Hello everyone !

Snow is still falling on Aso today. In fact I think it didn't really stop since yesterday. Despite the cold the snow isn't sticking everywhere but you can definitely enjoy a change of scenery in the area.

On this subject, one of my colleague noticed yesterday that it was possible to see the folding fan from Michi no Eki Aso. But what folding fan will you ask. If you come to Aso by car from Kumamoto, you may notice an unnatural shape on a part of the outer rim on your left. This is the shape of a folding fan draw on the mountain. Usually it is difficult to see from the road but with this weather and the snow it is a lot easier to see now even from pretty far away. So my colleague decided to go closer to take the pictures you can see on today's blog entry.

In fact a group of locals are shaping this fan since the end of the Meiji period (1868-1912)! It was more difficult this year because of the earthquake. There were many landslides and it made the shaping of the fan more difficult and dangerous. But the locals finally decided that it was important in the recovery process to maintain this long tradition. Next time you come to Aso try to localize this fan in the scenery! See you soon in Aso!

Bonjour !
